The New Hampshire Police Association Pipes & Drums was formed following the tragic death of New Hampshire State Police Sgt. James Noyes. Sgt. Noyes was shot and killed in October 1994, during a stand off with an armed barricaded subject. After the Boston Police Gaelic Column played at the funeral, a search was initiated for potential players to start a New Hampshire Police Pipe Band.
In December 1994 several dedicated individuals from various police departments got together for their first practice at Memorial High School in Manchester. After 2 years of dedicated practice, the band made it's official debut in 1996, playing at the New Hampshire Police Memorial in Concord. The band has competed in Grade V competitions at both Hunter Mountain NY and Loon Mountain in New Hampshire.

After the Boston Police Gaelic Column played at his funeral, a search was initiated for potential players to form a New Hampshire-based police pipes and drums band. In December 1994, several dedicated individuals from various police departments across the State convened for their first practice. After two years of dedicated training, the band made its official debut by playing at the New Hampshire Police Memorial in Concord.
The band’s primary mission is to honor New Hampshire’s fallen law enforcement officers by providing a musical accompaniment to funeral and memorial services. The band’s secondary mission is to celebrate the accomplishments of active and retired law enforcement officers, veterans and service members by playing at promotional ceremonies, honor flight commencements, academy graduations, retirements, and charitable events.
Since its inception, the band has grown to over thirty New Hampshire-based law enforcement and affiliate agency members. We are proud to volunteer our talents and time in this capacity to support and honor our law enforcement community during times of tragedy and triumph.
