Experienced Highland Piper, Damon Postle, will add to your event unique and classic quality bagpiping. Serving the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Area.
As an experienced bagpiper for hire, I bring the thrill, emotion and spectacle of the bagpipes to events such as weddings, formal dinners, funerals and memorial services, golf tournaments, birthday parties, and corporate events.
With over 15 years of experience, Damon has performed for hundreds of functions including weddings, funerals, retirement parties, concerts and other events in the Seattle, Washington, Hartford, Connecticut and Charlotte, North Carolina areas. Damon began playing at the age of 15 years old. Fascinated by the texture of the bagpipe sound, he set out to perform and compete with the Keith Highlanders Pipe Band of Seattle, WA. Damon received a degree in Music Education from the Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, CT. Damon is available to play for any event. Here is just a list of possible events he might play for:
Anniversaries, Awards Nights, Bachelor Parties, Bachelorette Parties, Banquets, Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs, Birthday Parties, Casinos, Celebrations, Children’s Birthday Parties, Christenings, Christmas Parties, Church Services, Clubs, Coffee Shops, Community Events, Conventions, Corporate Functions, Country Clubs, Cruise Ships, Dinner Dances, Festivals, Fraternity Functions, Fund Raisers, Funerals, Graduation Parties, Grand Openings, Hotels, Jingles, Movie Soundtracks, Picnic, Private Parties, Proms, Resorts, Restaurants, Reunions, Showers, Ski Lodges, Sorority Function, Studio Session, Temples, TV Soundtracks, Weddings

event: Scottish Bagpipes, World Music
The bagpipes Contrary to popular belief, bagpipes originated in ancient Egypt. The Scottish Highlanders, however, were the first to develop the bagpipe into the instrument it is today. The standard Scottish bagpipe has one ‘chanter’ (the reed pipe of a bagpipe with finger holes on which the melody is played) and three ‘drones’ (the actual pipes), and an air bag. The usual range is about two octaves. To play a set of bagpipes well takes many years of practice. The bagpiper must combine several tones, maintain steady pressure while breathing, remember the tune, and be able to march!
Bagpipe music can be heard at weddings, parades, funeral processions, and grand openings. School sporting events sometimes hire a full bagpipe band as well. Popular bagpiper songs include ‘Skye Boat Song’, ‘Going Home’, and ‘Scotland the Brave’. Bagpipe music is, of course, most popular on St. Patrick’s Day.
