The Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums embodies and represents the rich history and traditions the pipes and drums symbolize.
The Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums was founded in the year 2000 by active and retired members of area fire and police services. With little more than an instructor and a desire, the organization began as a small class of beginners in the basement of a local firehouse. The lessons progressed quickly and the group was soon performing at funerals, memorial services and academy graduations.
To achieve its mission statement, an organizational plan was developed and by-laws created. The Greater Milwaukee Fire and Police Pipes and Drums filed incorporation papers and was designated a 501 © (3) charitable organization.
As the plan grew in reputation it attracted new members from the protective services and from the community at large. Some have been experienced musicians, though many came to us as beginners with no musical skills. Today the band is more than 20 strong and provides nearly 100 performances each year.
We proudly wear the red and blue tartan of Clan MacLachlan, in representation of the alliance between fire and law enforcement services. Our colorful logo further represents this partnership.
